I have been an elementary school counselor for 19 years and I absolutely love it! I love that I am able to work with ALL of our students at Southside and feel this is one of the most rewarding parts of my job. I earned my undergraduate degree from the University of Kentucky in both Elementary Education and Special Education. While teaching special education for five years in Fayette County, I earned my graduate degree and Rank I in school counseling from Eastern Kentucky University. On a personal note, I am also a wife and mother of three fabulous children that keep us very busy! Outside of being a school counselor, I enjoy spending time with my family and friends, attending my children’s sporting and school events, as well as traveling. Southside is a very special school and I am fortunate to work with such wonderful students, staff and families.

Originally from a small town in Southeastern Kentucky, I moved to Lexington to attend the University of Kentucky where I earned a BA in English with an emphasis on literature and creative writing. I then obtained my Masters and Rank I in School Counseling from Eastern Kentucky University while I worked as a substitute teacher and full-time kindergarten instructional assistant in Fayette County. I joined the Southside Elementary Team in November of 2014 as part of a project funded by a U.S. Department of Education grant that seeks to enhance elementary student access to school counseling services. As the grant ended and Southside's enrollment grew, I was able to fill a newly-created extra counseling position in 2017. I'm thrilled to have the opportunity to work with Southside students!
